About Us:

"That’s Not How You Christian" is an off-brand Christian comedy project dedicated to sharp, unfiltered satire, good laughs, and just the right amount of irreverence to keep things interesting. We’re kicking things off with some deep-thought-style quotes to spark humor and reflection. But this is just the warm-up.

The goal? Build an audience, raise some eyebrows (in a good way), and ultimately produce a pilot episode. While a lot of what we do has Christian roots, not everything will be straight from the Bible. Because, let’s be honest, even Jesus told a few parables that felt a little off-brand.

And because some things deserve to be preserved for future generations (or at least kept on a coffee table for awkward guests to stumble upon), we’ll be putting together a book just in time for Christmas. Because nothing says timeless wisdom like a collection of faith-infused absurdity in physical form.

Mission Statement:

"Our mission is to deliver unapologetically humorous and provocative comedy that entertains and sometimes unsettles. By embracing edginess, we strive to engage a community that's open to exploring faith through laughter, satire, and honest dialogue."

Core Values:

  • Joyful Expression: Embrace the belief that Jesus is the source of all joy and humor. Let this inspire our content, infusing it with a sense of delight and playfulness that celebrates faith through laughter.

  • Satirical Insight: Highlight and parody misconceptions and misrepresentations in Christian life, acknowledging that sometimes "that's not how you Christian." Our content uses satire to point out these contradictions, embracing humor as a tool for reflection and amusement.

  • Laughter for Its Own Sake: Create comedy that brings joy and laughter purely for entertainment, without always aiming to provoke thought or encourage deep conversations. We recognize that humor can be valuable simply because it makes people laugh.

  • Community Engagement: Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed. Encourage open dialogue and build a community connected through shared humor and faith.

Foundational Values: The No Fly Zone

  • Foundational Belief in God: Acknowledge the existence of one God who is loving, just, and sovereign. Content should affirm and not question the core Christian belief in God's nature and presence.

  • Jesus as Savior: Uphold the central belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who came to redeem humanity through His death and resurrection. This core belief is non-negotiable and should remain respected in all content.

  • Scriptural Integrity: While humor can be drawn from interpretations and stories within the Bible, content should not challenge the belief in the Bible as an inspired and authoritative source of truth.

  • Value of Grace and Redemption: Content should never undermine the transformative power of God's grace in people’s lives.

  • The Importance of Love: Maintain respect for the core teaching that love, both God’s love for humanity and the call to love one another, is central to the Christian faith.

  • Dignity of Worship and Faith Practice: Humor can address traditions and practices, but should not mock sincere worship or faith as unnecessary or false.

  • Fruit of the Spirit: Recognize the values reflected in the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) as principles that should be celebrated, not mocked.

Disclaimer:

That’s Not How You Christian is a comedy brand that uses satire, biblical references, and cultural commentary to explore faith, church life, and spiritual oddities. While our content is meant to entertain and spark reflection, it is not intended to replace personal theological study, pastoral counsel, or genuine discipleship. If you're looking for spiritual guidance, we highly recommend a real-life church, pastor, or your grandma.

We make jokes about faith because we take it seriously, and because we believe it can handle a little laughter. That said, nothing on this site should be taken as official doctrine, religious advice, or a substitute for talking to someone who knows you and your situation personally.

Our devotionals, deep thoughts, and sketch content are created to engage minds, not bind consciences.

We recognize that we won’t always get it right. In our attempt to make space for humor, reflection, and faith, we will likely fall short. Sometimes awkwardly. Sometimes epically. But our goal is to fail upward. To learn as we go. To listen when we miss the mark. And to keep moving toward grace, laughter, and a deeper love for the people we are trying to reach and the God who is still reaching for us.
