Sacred Boundary Issues

Spiritual family, emotional distancing.

Romans 16:16 tells believers to greet one another with a holy kiss. In the early church, this was a sign of family, unity, and shared faith. It was not romantic. It was not lingering. And it was definitely not something that required breath mints and emotional follow up.

Most of us do not struggle with kissing too much in church. We struggle with avoiding each other completely. We perfect the nod. We master the hallway dodge. We wave like pageant contestants and call it fellowship.

Paul was reminding the church that faith was never meant to be distant or sterile. It was meant to be embodied. Warm. Awkward. Human. Holy.

1. Do you confuse being spiritually mature with being emotionally unavailable?

2. Do you greet people at church or execute evasive maneuvers?
